Start with the document itself
Check the title block, issue date, revision number, scale, north point and approving authority before interpreting any coloured area. A presentation drawing can explain an idea, but only an issued plan can establish the version being discussed.
Ask whether the copy is a planning submission, an approved layout, a sales plan or an artist’s diagram. Those documents serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Trace everyday journeys
Follow the route from the entrance to a residential street, park, mosque, school area and commercial edge. Look for intersections, service access, pedestrian crossings and the distance between daily destinations. A useful plan should make these relationships understandable without relying on decorative labels.
Confirm the details in writing
- Plot dimensions and orientation
- Road and right-of-way widths
- Utility and drainage corridors
- Amenity status and delivery responsibility
- Phasing, access and possession assumptions
- The approval reference for the exact revision
Project visuals describe the intended character. Availability, dimensions, approvals, prices, schedules and delivery must be checked against current issued documents before any decision.
